I know this “thumbnail” looks a bit dark. If you right click it (Windows) or Control click (Mac) you should be able to view in full screen.
Quite a pretty vista.

A close up, but I think it is better with the jaw dropping background.

In the foreground is the lip of the dune I climbed.

Part of the merry band!

I liked this one though it was nearly dark by then.

Shadows lengthen.

That was ‘my dune’. You can see the route.

A photo from a rest stop.

Partial view.

Early on the climb.

What a team!

Crescent Lake. Dunhuang.
Thanks to the lady at reception I put my computer almost on top of the router. Much better upload speed.

What an interesting phenomenon! Fabulous photos and fun to see a couple of you. Looking good!
High praise indeed!
Thank you.
Without going all geographical I thought it was an interesting phenomenon too.
Gosh! Those really are magnificent photos. What an incredible dune. Loved the gang!
Mother
Happy you liked them, but not sure they do the lake the justice it deserves.
Yes, the gang were highly amusing, amazing what one can accomplish with sign language.
Amazing photos – amazing place! The dunes are so beautiful aren’t they? Gorgeous contours. Nice bunch of people too. Your climb looks truly epic, reckon you could manage these Yorkshire hills without turning a hair. Was Camel #583 yours? He looks very smug – “Me an’ my Human” lol.
It truly was amazing.
I wonder what sort of view the people in the ultra light and helicopters saw.
Maybe they would not have had the same problem with the light.
I found the shadows challenging but the photos seem to have come out alright.
WOW …. a phenomenon indeed.
A phenomenal phenomena!
Great photos Tim!
